Before the pollen and warmer weather arrived, the Team at Peak City Puppy brushed off our athletic sneakers for a Spring Training session with our friends from Best Paw Forward Dog Education. Frank and Beth joined us to review advanced dog handling skills so we are all better equipped to handle the variety of breeds, temperaments and energy levels of our dog walking clients.
We were surprised to learn that many of us had it all wrong..."Leaving your dog outside in a yard is equivalent to leaving him in a big kennel; it doesn't burn his mental or much physical energy," said Frank. Upon learning this, the team at Peak City Puppy learned valuable leash and posture tricks to ensure that dog walk clients are receiving a maximum physical AND mental workout with us; whether it is for 15, 20 or a full 30 minutes. We also learned how to appraise a dog's attitude based on signals he provides with his body (tail, head and mouth positioning). All in all, it was an incredible valuable morning and we are excited to welcome the Best Paw Forward team back again in the fall for some additional team training.
Peak City Puppy offers dog walking services in plans that fit your unique needs. While some clients who work long days use us five days a week; others keep us on 'reserve' to call upon us when the boss calls a last-minute lunch meeting or a travel date leaves the pups home alone during the mid-day. We offer special rates for mid-day dog walking which vary based on frequency and duration of visit. Call or email us to inquire.
